Walter Waiters is a phenomenal blues singer. His style reminds me of many of the seasoned blues singers who have departed or soon to retire. I am reassured after hearing Walter Waiters sing that we definitely have someone to keep the blues alive. Dorothy Jenkins. Austin, Texas
My first cruise and my first time hearing your music and the highlight of it all was meeting you personally. I hope you will be coming to New Orleans real soon love your cd just keep doing what you doing praying that god continues to bless you an lift you to higher heights in your career, life. Peace!
Walter Waiters is extremely talented. I view him as tomorrows legend today. Walter Waiter's show is filled with pizzazz. He is truly born to sing the blues. (Beverly McDowell. Mobile, Alabama)
* Mr Crazy Sexy Smooth I love you. We thought people were just talking when they said you were so down to earth. You walked up in the stands to talk to my dad and we all thought you were going to keep going at the blues festival in Gulfport. We told him not to call you because singers don't have time to be bothered but you climbed up and sat down and talked to my dad. He told everybody on the street that you were his friend. I just want to say thank you Mr Walter for keeping it real. I want to see you perform again. my dad says hi. Bless you. Love your cd to. (KATrina Mimms. Gulfport)
* One of Blues best kept secrets. You are on your way. (Louis)
* Enjoyed your show at Val's. You make that Organ Sing my friend. God Bless you. (Eddie from Altus Oklahoma)
* I was one of the lucky girls who got a chance to walk the dog on stage with Walter. Ladies this man is Amazing. He moves like a snake. I thought that he played the piano great but by the end of the show, I was trying to find out what he didn't do. Walter is a ENTERTAINER! Funny, Talented, and very charming. (Stacy. Altus)
* I don't care if you don't post my review but I am going to tell the truth and nothing but. Walter will have a hard time making it in show business not because he is bad, but because this little sexy brother does it all. I watched him with my own eyes show everybody how he creates music. and he made a song right in front of us. I know there are some singers out there that can really work it but Walter Waiters is the real deal. He performed for two hours and stopped for all of thirty minutes and the came back and did another hour. WOW! To see a young man so dedicated to his craft inspires me so much. It's going to be hard Mr. Waiters but you will make it. ( Austin, Texas)
*This handsome young man won me over with that baby face and his humble personality. When he walked into the club before the show, I was telling my girlfriend that this young man must be part of something, he just had a look about him. Once he took the stage and started singing I was sold. He had this baby face and a voice like a man 3 to 4 times his age. I am a Walter Waiters fan. Miss Pearl( Mosspoint)
*The man is for real. I heard a lot about this young blues man. I went into his concert thinking I would be pleased with what I saw but I got so much more. There was another artist on the show with this young man, but in the end he held his own. This young man stands alone. I would pay to see him again and again. Good luck to you young man. James L (Mobile Ala)
*If you take BB King, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Ray Charles in their younger days, you would have Walter Waiters. Herman Wilson (Turning Point Lounge)
*To call you just a blues singer is a insult to you man. I remember when you hosted the comedy series here in Wichita, Falls with the comedians from BET. Everyone thought you were from the show. You were one of the best hosts I'd seen in many years. I have been hearing about you doing your blues thing, and remember when you announced that you would be doing it full time. That's great, but don't just limit yourself to just the blues man, you are a Entertainer and Entertainers have no limits. I just hope you tap into all that you do and take this shit over my brother. I heard a guy at my shop trying to make comparisons to you and your uncle (Mel). Well, Walter I let him know that if he knew the whole make up, there would be no comparison. That's not saying anything bad about your blood, but they can't touch your shit man. Come back to Wichita. (Terrance Sheppard AFB)
* Walter, it's just a matter a time before the world knows who you are. You a great performer and Lawton and Club Connections Loves you. (Sherri)
* Walter Waiters is a young Blues man with a old Blues man soul, a very good writer and keyboardist. Walter could very well be the Blues-soul man for the now generation (Magnolia Review).
* Bk9 has brilliantly captured the night with Walter Waiters. I am still calming down from a most exciting knight. Thank you Walter, for a most delightful evening of the Blues. Along with the excitement of celebrating a special occasion with my best friend and beloved sister, and hearing Walter Waiters live for the first time, I had the pleasure of being surprised by meeting the One of a kind F I N E !!! BIGK9. I tell you BK9 you are a very delightful person. Thank you BK9 for coming to My town and partying with me and my friends. Walter, meeting you and being at your show was indeed a thrill. Your performance was outstanding. But even more outstanding was you wonderful down to earth personality. And ladies let me tell you this brother is F I N E!!!!!! YES INDEED (Bell Ann DHB Group).
I
get the blues
shivering through my whole body! What a style this young Waiters has! I
could listen to him all night.
(Karen
Polka)
It was an exciting show. Walter is not just a talented artist he's and exciting and wonderful man and ladies he's a real cutie too lol. Yall have got to go see a Walter Waiters show. I'm still coming down from where ever he took us last week (lol). (Hazel Williams)
* "Keyboard Extraordinaire " (Blues Boy Willie)
* Walter came into our establishment and made our customers love him. I never thought I'd live to see another performer in my lifetime that could do the things that he did. We love you in Oklahoma Walt. Please come back. (No Name)
* The second coming of BB King. The boy is great! (Miss Pam Lawton, OK)
* The CD is good listening but the live show is the shit. Walk The Dog Walter (Fort Cobb)
* You did your thang my brother! You are a great entertainer Walter. God Bless you. Threasa (Altus)
* It's just a matter of time Walt. I have seen your shows grow over the last three years. I know for a fact that you have what it takes to get there. Whats important is that you show that you know this already. You do a show by your self that can stand up next to these so called superstars of blues. I love these artists, but some of them seem like they are in it for a dollar or two. You have shown my wife and myself that you are in it because you have to be. We love you and we will continue to come out to support you. You don't worry about the others, you just keep doing what you are doing and they will be knocking at your door. We love you. Kenneth and Betty (Lawton, OK)
Walter Waiters
"Just Me" By E Norman...
THE brilliance of
WALTER
WAITERS starts with
his songwriting and keyboard skills. This is his 4th CD but he is just really
getting started to display the skill and promise that will make him a next
generation blues star. Just Me is his latest musical effort and it is filled
with great songs, 15 to be exact. From the jazzy funk laden intro that you would
never hear from another blues artist except maybe Etta James who is always
surprising us, he then jumps into the medium groove dance floor approved
"Don't Scratch my back". Followed by more mid tempo pleasant to listen to
grooves such as "Creepin" "Stays in the Club" "Careful Woman" one of my very
favorites. Also on this joint is a song easily fit for a King, B.B King called
"Blues in my eye" where Walter
allows his respect for the King to come through in his voice (you might hear a
young B.B) if you listen.
Just Me is just that, just Walter
Waiters.
Walter is his own man,
a blues man, a damn good blues man. As I said though he is just getting started.
Other favorites
are the uptempo "Twerk it" and the jerky blues piece "Kaylah's Groove. There are
so many good song on this CD I almost feel it is vital that I name them all, but
I won't.
But let me not fail to mention blues you must use "Shakin my tree" and "My Hat".
Walter tells a
story, a real story as good as any songwriter, get to point and take me to the
bridge and drop me off into some next generation blues.
All the songs here could have been sung by the greats Artie Blues Boy White, B.B,
Bobby Rush or Bland , ZZ Hill, Little Milton, Johnny Taylor....he has followed a
generation and is continuing the legacy in the way that assures his own.
Walter
Waiters doing it his
way and doing it well.

"WALTER WAITERS ROCKS THE DO DROP INN Part
2" "Big K-9 May 28, 2008
Hello BLUES AND SOUTHERN SOUL FANS,Memorial Day weekend has always been one of
my favorite times of the year. There are always a lot of activities going on,high
school and college graduations, class reunions, family reunions, small towns
celebrating their homecomings, weddings and just about any other activity you can
imagine and Memorial Day weekend is usually the time of the year for such
activities.America pays tribute to their troops on this day and myself being a
veteran of the U.S. Navy(Operation Desert Storm Veteran)I always thank God that
I was able to serve and return home to my love ones safely.
I had the opportunity to see my good friend Walter Waiters make his Mississippi
debut a couple of years ago in Gulfport,Mississippi.I had originally suppose to
go to what was then billed one of the biggest annual blues shows in
Huntsville,Alabama(The Down Home Blues Festival) but I promised Walter I would
come to Gulfport and I kept my word and made the trip to Gulfport.Walter made
his Mississippi Delta debut only a couple of months ago and I was thrilled to be
able to watch him perform in my very own backyard.I never imagined he would be
returning back to the Delta so soon.
I was suppose to be in Memphis this Memorial Day weekend and when Walter told me
about his show my heart went south because I had already made plans for this
entire weekend.I remember when I first met Walter about five(5) years ago I told
him that he could always count on me being there for him and with him making the
trip all the way from Oklahoma to perform again in my neck of the woods I made
my decision to stay and support my friend. This won't be like one of my typical
long drawn out reviews because I had a long day at work and I had to leave for
Memphis early the following morning.
"THE DO DROP INN" once again played host to this TEXAS BLUES MAN whom I dubbed
"THE NEXT BIG THING".It wasn't a very large crowd on hand but Walter has always
told me wheter he's at a festival of thousands or in a club with only five
people that he would always let it do what it do.Though the crowd was small
there were plenty of familar faces on hand.Several of my female co-workers(damn
they were looking good) were on hand to show Walter some love and to be honest I
didn't even know a couple of them were blues fans. Also on hand were
Regina,Regina's mom and Crystal who all made the trip from Memphis. "THE
CLARKSDALE DIVAS",Claudette Nawls and Veronica McDowell a.k.a. Roni were also in
the house.
Walter opened his performance by thanking the people in attendance for coming
out and he promised that we would all have a good time.He had everyone up and
dancing on "Creeping" and "Careful Woman".As always Rufus Thomas "Walking The
Dog" was the highlight of his performance as Walter allowed a few of the fans in
attendace to walk with him. Most notably was two guys(I didn't get there
names)who impressed Walter so much he changed gears and simply begin to
entertain the women in attendance and together the three of them put on a
display of grown folks dancing that would have been rated XXX at any theater and
the females in attendance loved every minute of it.He was joined on the mic by
one of his now infamous dancers as they performed Ray Charles "The Night Time Is
The Right Time" and it was a very good rendition. He paid tribute to his daughter
Kaylah with "Kalah's Boogie" and "I Bounce Back".He showcased his terrific
vocals on "Don't Scratch My Back","Just Me","Free Agent" and "Crazy Smooth
Sexy',I've always loved his laid back soulful delivery on this jam.He continued
to display his vocal depth as he did a excellent rendition of The Tempmtations
"I Wish It Would Rain".He paid homeage to The Do Drop Inn with "Laid Back Kind
Of Place".
I've always stated that Walter Waiters is a BLUES MAN FIRST.He begin to take us
home as he begin his blues set medley. He opened up with my personal favorite
"Married Man's Blues" and this was the first time that I saw him perform this
song.He took me home with some deep down home tradional blues,"Rock Me Baby" and
"Down Home Blues" put everyone in a hand-clapping and foot-stomping mood. His
masterful skills on "LUCY"(his keyboard)were being displayed as this Texas Blues
man did his thing. In the middle of one of his selections my lil brother began to
get a little explicit.Every show that I attend now the male artist display
tounges and lil Walter was no different as he begin to lick Lucy up and down.I
blame Marvin Sease for getting this s**t started. Not to be ignored was the
sounds coming from this keyboard. The sounds of B.B. King,Buddy Guy and the late
great Albert King filled the room.He continued his blues theme with Carl Sims
and J.Blackfoot's "Your Man Is Home Tonight" and Bobby Blue Bland's "You Got To
Hurt Before You Heal".He closed his performance with Buddy Ace's "It Don't Hurt
No More".I've seen Walter's performance a few times and his maturation as an
artist is incredible. His vocals and showmanship have allowed him to become a top
notch entertainer. His ability to allow the crowd to be involved at his shows has
definetly made him a FAN FAVORITE.To all the promoters out there please add this
gifted brother to some of your upcoming shows. If you want to see and hear a real
Blues Man then Walter Waiters is definetly "THE MAN".To get all the latest news
and information on Walter Waiters please visit his website at
www.walterwaiters.com and on his myspace page at www.myspace.com/walterwaiters
In closing I would like to thank Jacquelyn and her entire crew at THE DO DROP
INN for making it possible for us to see Walter perform again and in a very
short time period.I want to give a shout out to all my co-workers in attendance
and its too many to name and I sure didn't want to leave any of you out,it was
so good to see you all there getting your blues on.To Regina, her mom and Crystal
sorry you got there late but better late than never for real and to "The
Clarksdale Divas",Claudette and Roni" I really enjoyed getting my blues on with
you all,we must do it again real soon.I had a great time at this show and I just
wanted to share it with the greatest fans in the world.Take care and MAY GOD
BLESS YOU ALWAYS.I'll see you down by the stage.
"WALTER WAITERS MISSISSIPPI DELTA DEBUT" April 1, 2008 (( Big K9))
Hello Blues and Southern Soul fans. Its not often that a good BLUES & SOUTHERN SOUL GATHERING takes place in your own backyard but recently I was very fortunate to attend one that was literally in my own backyard. Independent Blues recording artist, Walter Waiters performed lived at "THE DO DROP INN" in Shelby,Mississippi.Shelby is my birthplace and it has a deep rooted history of blues. Many recording artist have performed at different venues in Shelby including Willie Clayton,Denise Lasalle,Marvin Sease,Little Milton,Ronnie Lovejoy,Tyrone Davis and Buddy Ace to name just a few.The Do Drop Inn is truly one of the last authentic Mississippi Delta juke joints and it has played host to some of the before mentioned blues artist. For me the Do Drop Inn brings back some good memories,I was a young teen when I first became familar with this juke joint.I use to chop cotton(yes I’m a real country boy) around the Shelby area and we got paid at the end of each day in Shelby and the Do Drop Inn was in walking distance.Me and some of my friends would stop by and get some good southern soul food and a couple of cold beers(sorry mom but I started drinking early).I remember the sounds of B.B. King and Bobby Blue Bland playing loud on the juke box,the smell of fried fish and chicken wings filled the air and all the local patrons on the dance floor doing some serious grown folks dancing can you say the "BO-HAWG GRIND".You didn’t need to dress up to come to this juke joint I remember tractor drivers pulling up on their tractors going straight inside this juke joint. This was a simpler and better time in my life and I truly miss the good old days.
Fast forward some twenty plus years and I have to be honest,I didn’t even know the Do Drop Inn was still operative until my good friend Walter Waiters told me he was going to be performing there. One of my friends from myspace,Jacquelyn runs the Do Drop Inn and she is the one who made all this possible.I was very excited because I’ve long for the day to see him perform in my area. Its not often that my fiance’,Sylvia Burks(MZ. K9) join me at a show but after meeting Walter she said she just had to come check him out and she was joined by her co-worker Sharon and some of Sharon family members.I was joined on this night by original Dawg Pound members Doyle Parris a.k.a Dr. Feel-Good,Carnez Parris a.k.a Sir Cap and Tavious Haywood. There were other familar faces in the house,Bluz Queen and the rest of "The Kitty Kitty Club" were posted down front and some of my friends,Crystal,Regina and her mom from myspace were also in the house. It wasn’t a large crowd on hand but like Walter’s cousin Mel Waiters would say the smaller the club the bigger the party. So with my gin and juice on hand chased with some cold Bud Light good people let me take you on this BLUES RIDE.
There was no mc for tonights show so Walter ask me would I bring him to the stage? How could I say no to my friend? So now add mc to Big K9’s resume’(Lol!).But serious it was a honor for me to introduce him to the Mississippi Delta, our friendship has spanned about five(5) years now.I remember when he only played the midwest area(Oklahoma & Texas mostly) and now he is a nationally and internationally known recording artist playing in the heart of the Mississippi Delta. He was voted the 2006 BEST NEW MALE ARTIST by THE BLUES CRITIC BLUES AND SOUTHERN SOUL AWARDS and I dubbed him "THE NEXT BIG THING".He received a big ovation as I brought him to the stage. He opened up his performance with a classic southern soul hit covered by Carl Sims and J. Blackfoot,"You Man Is Home Tonight" was the perfect song to kick off his show because it was mainly women in attendance and they all seem to want to take Walter home with them.I’ve always been impressed with his vocal range but he even suprised me with his depth on his next song,"I Wish It Would Rain" and this blues man delivered a soulful rendition that did The Temptations justice. His next song was a rendition of Rufus Thomas "Walking The Dog" and I’ve seen him perform this song a few times and its always a real show-stopper and it would be no different on this night as he left his keyboard,Lucy and got front and center and began to do his very popular version.Every camera in the house was flashing as he thrilled the ladies in attendance and MZ. K9’s co-worker Sharon could take it no more as she left her seat and joined him on stage and was able to go one on one with Walter as he walked the dog and the crowd loved it.He really got the party crunk as he began to perform a few of his hit singles,"Don’t Scratch My Back" allowed me and Regina(myspace friend) to cut a rug together and "Crazy Smooth Sexy" allowed Walter to showcase his terrifc vocals.I’ve always enjoyed his laid back soulful delivery on this song."Creeping" and "Careful Woman" kept the dance party going led by my girl Regina and The Kitty Kitty Club."Laid Back Kind Of Place" was the right song to describe The Do Drop Inn as MZ. K9 and the rest of the fans in attendance were really enjoying themselves.
Another highlight of the night that I had to mention was local patron Mrs. Gladys who joined Walter on stage for a couple of songs including Ray Charles and Margie Hendricks "The Night Time" and she gave a gut wrenching version that brought everyone to their feet. She also performed "Rock Me Baby" and a hellified version of "Down Home Blues" that sounded so much like Denise Lasalle’s version.Just like so many other artist I think its great that he truly allow the fans to be a part of his show.Mrs. Gladys you go girl.
The real highlight of the night for me was this "BLUES MAN" singing the blues.I’ve gotten away from the traditonal deep down home blues but on this night Walter Waiters took me back home. There were some older patrons on hand that was enjoying the show but as he began to perform his blues set they all made their way to the stage area to see this TEXAS BLUES MAN do the damn thing. My fellow Dawg Pound member Doyle Parris is old school and he loves Bobby Blue Bland and Walter began his blues set with a rendition of Bobby Blue Bland’s "You Got To Hurt Before You Heal" and it moved me so much I went grabbed MZ. K9 out of her seat and begin to slow dance to this song.Once again his vocal depth took me by suprise. He continued his Bobby Blue Bland theme with "Members Only" and he allowed everyone in attendance to join in on this cut,it was now sing a long with Walter Waiters.I’ve always said that Walter is a Blues Man first and even though his latest cd takes on more of a southern soul theme he still remains true for his love of the blues as he begin to take us home with some deep foot stomping and hand clapping down home blues. His keyboard "Lucy" had some serious issues tonight as she cranked out some mean guitar licks that would make Buddy Guy,B.B. King and Albert King proud, she displayed some cool soul serenades that would make King Curtis smile and she blew some funky sounds that could make the Memphis Horns cry but Walter has learned that the women for this genre of music love to see an artist freaky side.Every show that I attend now the male artist display their candy lickers(tongue for all the slow people) and I guess its a good thing because all the females came front and center with cameras in hand and began to capture Walter licking Lucy up and down(Yes MZ. K9 I saw you looking). To close his performance he paid tribute to his mentor The Silver Fox,Buddy Ace with a soulful rendition of "It Don’t Hurt No More" as I took the mic and thanked everyone for coming out to support Walter the crowd wasn’t having it.They wanted more and he wouldn’t let them down.He closed his show with a bang as he cranked out Little Milton’s "The Blues Is Alright’.I’ve seen Walter’s performance a few times and his maturation as an artist is incredible. His vocals and showmanship have allowed him to become a top notch entertainer. His ability to allow the crowd to be involved at his shows will continue to allow him to be a crowd favorite. This was the best Walter Waiters performance that I’ve ever seen.To all the promoters out there please add this gifted brother to some of your upcoming shows.I put my personal stamp of approval on this one.To get all the latest news and information on Walter Waiters please visit his website at www.walterwaiters.com and on his myspace page at www.myspace.com/walterwaiters
This show will always be a memorable one for me.Hours before the show Walter and I were able to spend some time together. He wanted to see some of the Mississippi Delta and I explained to him that this was a rural area and it wasn’t much to see but he still wanted to get out and see how we country folks live.He said much of the people and the area was like Oklahoma but when he saw a guy driving a car and pulling a lawn mower down a main street he said he knew he was in the country as a matter of fact we were in Shelby. He also spent time in my home and got to meet my daughters who by the way enjoy Walter’s music.
I want to give a shout out to Jacquelyn and the crew from the Do Drop Inn,thanks for all your hospitality.I also want to give a shout out to Crystal,Regina,Sharon(MZ. K( co-worker) and The Kitty Kitty Club.To my fellow Dawg Pound members I truly enjoyed you all again, lets continue to get our blues on.MZ. K9 I truly enjoyed you on this night.I’m glad that you were able to experience what I love to do so much. Good people I had a great time and like always I wanted to share it with you the greatest fans in the world.Take care and MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU.

WALTER WAITERS,NATHANIEL KIMBLE,JEFF FLOYD,O.B. BUCHANA & BETTY PADGETT ((New))
"THE 2ND ANNUAL MISSISSIPPI HERITAGE BLUES FESTIVAL"
Hello BLUES and SOUTHER SOUL fans I recently attended "THE SECOND ANNUAL
MISSISSIPPI HERITAGE BLUES FESTIVAL" held in Gulfport, Mississippi. I tried to
put on a happy face but physically I wasn't feeling very well. The lineup
included Walter Waiters, Betty Padgett, Nathaniel Kimble, Jeff Floyd and O.B.
Buchana. Walter Waiters had the crowd up and dancing throughout his entire
performance. The highlight came when Walter and American Blues radio personality
Beverly McDowell did their popular dance version of "Walking The Dawg" and they
were joined on stage by "The Budweiser Girls". He gave the people in Gulfport a
damn good show. Betty Padgett is one of the top divas in the southern soul
industry and her show has just received a big boost. She has started touring
with one of the baddest bands in the land. Soul 4 Real (T.K. Soul's band) have
joined forces with Betty Padgett and they are magic on stage together. She
belted out some gut wrenching songs but of course "Never Coming Home" got the
biggest ovation. My homeboy Nathaniel Kimble was very dynamic on this day.His
show has become electrifying. He had the crowd singing, dancing and laughing. The
highlight of his performance came when promoter Herman Wilson and DJ Philmore
brought the police on stage and told him if he performed "Can U Bagg It Up" he
was going to jail(It was part of the show). He has really developed into a top
performer in the industry.Jeff Floyd was awesome as always. He gave the people in
Gulfport one hell of a show.If he had his way he wouldn't have left the stage as
he did an extended but powerful version of his southern soul classic hit "I
Found Love On A Lonely Highway".Everyone had packed the downstage area as Jeff
took them to church with his performance. After his performance Beverly McDowell
brought a special guest to the stage,my homegirl "The Sexy Lady Of Southern
Soul",Roni made a suprise appearance as she did a brief version of her hit
single "A Fool On My Hands" and the crowd gave her a nice ovation.I was so glad
to see her."The Gentle Giant Of Southern Soul",O.B. Buchana closed the show with
a bang."Like My Woman " is always my favorite part of his performance but on
this night it was an elderly woman (I'm guessing about 70 years old) among the
fans down by the stage area. She held a sign with O.B.'s photo and she had a
gallon of Crown Royal for him. He extended his hand to her and I thought she was
going to pass out.He told her she better not start crying and that he too had a
gift for her,he went to unzip his pants and the look that came on her face was
one for the ages.I'm just glad that lil old lady didn't have a heart attack.O.B.
is truly one of the top entertainers in the industry. His show is a must see.
I know this isn't one of my typical reviews but I wasn't feeling well at
all.Being in the presence of my good friends pulled me through.Walter Waiters
you have arrived my friend.Your show is incredible.Roni it was good to see you
girl.I almost left the show but Walter told me that you were on your way,so I
hung in there and just your presence alone made me feel a lot better.Even though
I wasn't feeling well this was an awesome show and I just wanted to share some
of the highlights with you the greatest fans in the world.Take care and MAY GOD
BLESS ALL OF YOU.

"WALTER WAITERS BIRTHDAY BASH"
((New))
Hello BLUES and SOUTHERN SOUL fans. After weeks of speculation I wasn't
sure if I was going to be able to make it to the Gulf Coast for my good friend
Walter Waiters a.k.a. "The Next Big Thing" birthday bash being held at "THE
TURNING POINT LOUNGE" in Gulfport, Mississippi. It was about a year ago that I
was able to visit the Turning Point Lounge for the first time and see Walter
make his Mississippi debut. I remember all the love the people in Gulfport
showed Walter and I especially remember the thrill that he gave all the people
whom were still recovering from Hurricane Katrina. It was one of the most
memorable nights that I've had on my blues and southern soul ride and I wanted
to capture that feeling one more time.
When I arrived at The Turning Point Lounge the first people to greet me was the
owner and my friend Herman Wilson, DJ Philmore and my man A.J. I was joined on
this night by some familiar faces and friends, some whom I've met before and
some whom I met for the very first time .My Down Home Blues Group(DHBG) member
Hazel" Music Lady" Williams and her friend Bernice made the long trip from
Tallahasse, Florida. Also in attendance were some of my fellow myspace
friends, first there was Vickie from Hattiesburg, Mississippi,Denise a.k.a. Texas
Mami from El Paso,Texas, local residents Joycelyn and Linda Hollinsworth a.k.a.
MS. Da Da both from Gulfport,Mississippi and from the Kitty Kitty Club my girl
The Bluz Queen. It wasn't a large crowd when I first arrived and I believe the
stormy weather had a lot to do with that but for the ones in attendance they all
were ready to party with my man Walter Waiters. It was a festive atmosphere as
Herman had the ballons and other party favorites on display.A table was filled
with plenty of food and drinks including two huge birthday cakes. So with the gin
and juice on hand chased with some cold bud light and plenty of friends to join
me,good people let me take you on this blues and southern soul ride.
The mc for the night was the sultry and sassy radio
personality(WDLT & THE AMERICAN BLUES NETWORK)the one and only Beverly
McDowell. She gave Walter a wonderful introduction and as he made his way to the
stage area the crowd gave him a big ovation. He opened up his performance with
his classic hit "Don't Scratch My Back" and immediately the house was in party
mode.A few folks in attendance hit the dance floor led by Herman and his lovely
wife.I usually don't hit the dance floor but after seeing Herman cutting a rug I
had to get in on the fun.His next song was a rendition of Rufus Thomas "Walking
The Dog" and he left the stage area and Beverly McDowell joined him on the dance
floor.Their dance routine has become very popular on the southern soul circuit
and I got my first glimpse of them performing it and good people it is a show
stopper for real.Every camera in the house was snapping as Walter and Beverly
did the damn thang. This was truly one of the highlights of the show.
I've always enjoyed Walter's laid back soulful delivery and his new single
"Crazy Sexy Smooth' showcased his terrific vocals. The crowd was able to join in
on this cut and it was sing along with Walter Waiters. His next two songs got the
dance floor packed."Creepin" and "Careful Woman" had all of my myspace
friends(Bluz Queen,Texas Mami,Vickie and Joycelyn) on the dance floor and it
just made me wonder about these cool women whom I call my friends are they "Creepin"?
Or are they just some "Careful Women"? Inquiring minds want to know. His next
song "Laid Back Kind Of Place" described "The Turning Point Lounge" for real as
the crowd was beginning to grow.
Another highlight of the show was when Beverly McDowell and Herman paid a
special birthday tribute to Walter.Like a page out of my man T.K. Soul's book
Beverly placed a chair front and center and Herman played a soulful Happy
Birthday as Walter sat front and center and the lovely ladies were able to go
one on one with "The Next Big Thing".Like so many of his peers Walter always
allow the crowd to be a part of his show and this is another reason why he is
loved so dearly.I've always said that Walter is a Blues Man first and even
though his latest cd takes on more of a southern soul theme he still remains
true for his love of the blues as he begin to take us home with some deep foot
stomping and hand clapping down home blues. His keyboard "Lucy" had some serious
issues tonight as she cranked out some mean guitar licks that would make Buddy
Guy,B.B. King and Albert King proud, she displayed some cool soul serenades that
would make King Curtis smile and she blew some funky sounds that could make the
Memphis Horns cry but Walter has learned that the women for this genre of music
love to see an artist freaky side.Every show that I attend now the male artist
display tounges that would put an anaconda to shame and lil Walter was no
different.I guess its a good thing because all the females came front and center
with cameras in hand and began to capture Walter licking Lucy up and down. His
final song was a moving tribute to one of our beloved Down Home Blues Group
members Beverly Ann who passed away earlier this year.He gave a soul stirring
rendition of Buddy Ace's "It Don't Hurt No More" as the Down Home Blues Group
all embraced him toward the end of this song.It was a very moving moment for all
in attendance.I've seen Walter's performance a few times and his maturation as
an artist is incredible. His vocals and showmanship have allowed him to become a
top notch entertainer. His ability to allow the crowd to be involved at his shows
will continue to allow him to be a crowd favorite. To all the promoters out there
please add this gifted brother to some of your upcoming shows.I put my personal
stamp of approval on this one.To get all the latest news and information on
Walter Waiters please visit his website at www.walterwaiters.com and on his
myspace page at www.myspace.com/walterwaiters
After the show Herman hit the DJ booth and kept the party going with the sounds
of T.K. Soul,Lebrado,Betty Padgett,O.B. Buchana,Nathaniel Kimble,Jeff Floyd and
other big name artists. It was late but the people in Gulfport were still
partying at The Turning Point Lounge.I would like to give a shout out to
Hazel,Bernice,Vickie,Texas Mami,Joycelyn,linda,Bluz Queen,Herman,DJ Philmore,AJ
and my lil brother Walter Waiters.Good people I had a great time and like always
I wanted to share it with you the greatest fans in the world.Take care and MAY
GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU.

Mobile Alabama Review by:
Hazel "Musiclady" Williams ((New)))
Mobile, AL was the setting for the start
of the weekend long celebration for O.B.'s birthday! What a night it was. The
show opened with Walter Waiters as he captivated the audience at the Midway
Lounge in Mobile with such hits as My Hat, Don't Scratch My Back, (my favorite)
What Happens In The Club, Old School Woman, Something I Can Feel, Free Agent,
Night Time is The Right Time, (his new hit) Somewhere. Walter closed out his set
with It Don't Hurt No More. It was another awesome performance by Walter and the
crowd adored him. Once again Walter was joined on stage for a dance routine with
the incomparable Beverly McDowell of WDLT and the American Blues Network. Way to
go Walter! Another outstanding performance!
Review by: Lady "T" (WRNE Radio)
There
are only three words to describe Walter Waiters' last show at the
Ahmed Grenadier Club. Those three words are "Awesome. Awesome. Awesome"!
In my
lifetime, I have had the opportunity to see some of the best entertainers
perform.
I had not prepared myself for the Walter Waiters Show. Here was this
young man who walked out on stage, straddled his piano-designed stool,
sat down and began to play his keyboard. The music was so sweet.
Then he opened his mouth and began to sing. Oh my goodness, church was
out. He is truly a young man with an old man's soul. He captivated my
attention when he hit the stage
and held it to the end of the show.
He's a one-man band, but ladies and
gentlemen don't get it
TWISTED!!!! He may be a small man in stature, but he packs a very powerful
punch.
I was so excited about that show. I can close my eyes and remember it
just like it was yesterday. He dazzled the crowd with "Don't Scratch
My Back" and the audience sang along with him. Then he broke out with "My
Hat". He explained to the ladies that he was a free agent and, of
course, the ladies were feeling that one.
Mr. Buddy Ace recorded a song entitled "It Don't Hurt No More".
Mr. Ace is in heaven now singing with all God's other angels, but
Walter Waiters has taken this song and made it his own. When Walter sings it,
it
comes from deep down in his soul. It brings tears to your eyes, because
he helps you to understand whatever painful relationship that you've
been through, it JUST DON'T HURT NO MORE!!! You will find
someone else to love you for you, and life will go on.
I know that Walter Waiters is the new kid on the block (so to speak), but
I promise you that he is so much more. If you haven't had the pleasure
of seeing Mr. Waiters, check his website for dates of upcoming performances to
your city
or a city near you. Even if you've only heard the name Walter Waiters, once
you've seen his show you will leave wanting
more!!!!
I thank God that I have had the pleasure of meeting Walter and seeing him
perform. Each time that I see him, he seems to get better and stronger. My
prayer is for God to continue to strengthen him each and every day. God has
really blessed him with a wonderful gift. I pray that Walter continues to stay
focused and continues to let God guide his path!
Walter Waiters Tallahassee Debut
Hey blues and southern soul
fans,
I just got back from Tallahassee,Florida(T-Town) where I attended a birthday
bash for Hazel"Music Lady"Williams and a CD release party for my friend Walter
Waiters.First of all let me thank the wonderful people from THE-DOWN-HOME-BLUES-GROUP,Hazel,Beverly(Bell
Ann) and Karen Polka for making this country boy feel right at home. You all
should take a bow for real. You all were terrific.Friday was Hazel's birthday so
for everyone who didn't know please wish her a belated Happy Birthday!
2005 has been one hell of a blues and southern soul ride for me.I've had my
bright sunny days on this ride but I've also had a few dark and cloudy days as
well.First there was the passing of our beloved Tyrone Davis, follwed by the
tragic death of the beautiful Jackie Neal.A couple of months ago saw the passing
of the great Little Milton Campbell. Those are a few of the dark and cloudy
days. This ride had some nice sunny days.Seeing Jackie Neal perform for the first
and only time,I saw the legendary Bobby Blue Bland,Shirley Brown and Sir Charles
perform for the very first time.I got the oppurtunity to talk to and know Omar
Cunningham,Willie Clayton,Denise Lasalle and Marvin Sease personally.I've been
in contact through the internet with recording artists ,Donna Lynne and Pat
Brown.I enjoy the music of all these artists.Their music is truly soul-stirring,it
captures the mind, the heart and soul of each and every individual who really
enjoys the blues and southern soul music.
Saturday night my ride continued to T-Town.On this night I got to see a very
talented and gifted young man perform.First of all let me start by saying that
Walter Waiters is truly a BLUES MAN.An amazing blues man if you will.I read on
his website that someone stated that the future of the blues is in good
hands, damn right it is.I was simply blown away by his performance. His live
vocals reminded me of T.K.Soul and Omar Cunningham, his tributes to all the blues
pioneers who paved the way for him reminded me of Willie Clayton, his stage
presence, showmanship that included a lot of hip swerving for the ladies reminded
me of Bobby Rush and his genuis style on the keyboard reminded me of B.B.
King,Buddy Guy and the late great Albert King.As he opened the show I glanced
around the room to see how the crowd was going to respond and then he started on
Rufus Thomas "Walking The Dog".He captured the crowd with that one number. His
version was especially pleasing to the women. When he went into his dance motion
the women were won over instantly.Last week I saw Bobby Rush" Night Fishing" and
tonight I got to see Walter Waiters" Walking The Dog",even Rufus Thomas had to
smile at that performance.
Walter is terrific in getting the crowd involved in his show.He began performing Ray Charles "The Night Time ,Is The Right Time" he left the stage and asked was there any woman in the house that could help him with the song.A local T-Town young lady named Gloria began belting out Margie Hendrix gut wrenching vocals,LAWD HAVE MERCY and the house went wild,Walter affectionally dubbed her Margie. She later joined him on stage and they performed another Ray Charles hit"What I'd Say".Walter allowing the crowd to get involved was truly a special moment during the show. His genuis on the keyboard came across again when he performed "You Don't Miss Your Water, Til Your Well Runs Dry" by William Bell. His work on the keyboard(horn section he calls it}you would have thought the Memphis Horns were actually in the building and on stage live.I was awe struck by that.I learned one thing about Walter on this night, the boy does not know where he is from.He claims to be from the midwest but this blues man hails from the Mississippi Delta. He went into a number of foot-stomping and hand-clapping down home Mississippi Delta blues.Howlin Wolf and Son House had to be looking down smiling tonight. He had the crowd moving with his deep traditonal blues. The only thing missing were the chittlins, collard greens and cornbread.Once again his one man band(the Keyboard} had you believing that Buddy Guy and Albert king were on guitar. If B.B. King has Lucille then Walter Waiters keyboard is her little sister Lucy.I've listen to Walter's music a lot this year but I've never grooved to any of his songs but all that changed on this night. With my DHBG help we cut-a-rug out on the dance floor."Don't Scratch My Back" got me off my feet first."Creepin" and "Careful Woman" kept me dancing.
The crowd were
really into his music by now and I thought it was great how he did his own music
in between songs from other artists such as Ray Charles,William Bell,Otis
Redding and Little Milton. He had the place rocking especially with his song "I
Can Feel" and Kaylah's Boogie. He closed the show with a bang.He performed one of
my favorite songs(It Don't Hurt No More). He paid a tribute to his mentor and
friend the Silver Fox,Buddy Ace.Once again he left the stage and moved to a
table with a couple of young ladies. He stood up on the table and began to
dance. The boy did his thing and the ladies went crazy. He captured the hearts of
all the females with that one.His stage presence and showmanship is right up
there with Bobby Rush. This was one of the best shows that I have attended this
year.On this night I witness a real BLUES MAN perform. He shouted like B.B.King
and acted like Bobby Bland. My favorite part of the show was hearing all the
positive and wonderful things that the people in T-Town had to say about Walter
After the show he signed autographs and took pictures with many that were in
attendance including the members of The Shriners Club that allowed him to
perform in T-Town.He won the hearts of the people in T-Town so much that he was
asked to come back again in Febuary and then again in October. Please be sure to
checkout his website at www.walterwaiters.com for more information on these and
other upcoming shows. Also please purchase his new CD "Just Me".I played it from
T-Town all the way back to the country.Once again the members of the DHBG I had
a blast and I hope it is just the beginning. To the rest of the DHBG family I
hope that we all can start attending more shows together.Due to the storage of
photos,I have deleted the bulk of my photos to make room for others who want to
share their photos with the rest of the group. I did post three photos from the
show in my photo album and I hope that you all enjoy them. For those who haven't
viewed any of my photos please visit my website at www.bigk9.net and please sign
my guestbook and let me know that you did stop by Da Dawg Pound.Oh yeah if you
ever party with Karen be prepared to dance all night long.Take care good people
and MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU (Big K9)
Walter Waiters Mississippi
Debut
Hello Blues And Southern Soul fans. This Memorial Day Weekend will be well
remembered by me.After the destruction of Hurricane Katrina, life on the Gulf
Coast is slowly but surely picking up the pieces. I watched on television just
like the millions of others around the world as Hurricane Katrina ripped apart
the gulf coast. I will never ever know how painful it was for the people in this
area to experience such a catastrophe but I can only imagine the worst. My
friend Herman Wilson has a Blue's Club in Gulfport, Mississippi that was spared
by Hurricane Katrina. Other than the POWER OF PRAY AND THE FAITH & TRUST IN THE
GOOD LORD, there is no better therapy for healing than the sweet sounds of the
blues and southern soul music. Herman has dubbed his club "THE TURNING POINT
LOUNGE" and our beloved Tyrone Davis has got to be looking down on Gulfport with
a smile on his face. This club has played host to the likes of T.K. Soul, Jeff
Floyd, Big Cynthia and Reggie P just to name a few.
Last night I attended my first but it certainly won't be my last show at "THE
TURNING POINT LOUNGE". My lil brother, Walter Waiters was making his Mississippi
debut. I put emphasis on Mississippi because this is my home state and we love
and treasure our blues and southern soul heritage. I'll never say that we are
the best fans of this genre of music but I do know we aren't the worse. I was
joined on this night by a couple of my DOWN-HOME-BLUES-GROUP(DHBG) members
Hazel(Music Lady) and her dear sweet sister Bell Ann. The two of them drove from
Tallahasse,Florida to attend Walter's debut in the Magnolia state. I arrived at
"The Turning Point Lounge" and locals were starting to show up. I was met at the
door by my man Herman who immediately began to make me feel right at home. He
was still preparing for tonight's show so I told him to handle his business
because his club was like Club Ebony back in Indianola so I knew I would be
alright. The sounds of Marvin Sease,Theodis Ealey,Billy "Soul" Bonds and many
other artists were echoing from the DJ booth and this had the locals in
attendance geared up for Walter's performance. I use to stereotype against
people who lived on the gulf coast. I live in the Mississippi Delta and we are
country folks but after seeing the crowd juking before the show these are some
C-O-U-N-T-R-Y folks too. Walter's cousin Mel was right when he said the smaller
the club the bigger the party. With the fish frying and the gin kicking in good
people let me take you on this blues and southern soul ride.
Before Walter came on I had to look around the room to capture the moment. I
know this boy is bad and I told Herman and many of the people in attendance that
he was going to do the damn thing tonight but the look on some of their faces
was we shall see. He hit the stage and myself along with Hazel and Bell Ann down
front led a thunderous ovation. We got the crowd pumped for one hell of a show.
He opened up his performance with "Don't Scratch My Back" and the crowd was into
the show early. It had been a few months since the last time I seen Walter
perform and I simply forgot how good his live vocals are. His laid back delivery
and soulful voice got the people of Gulfport on their feet and dancing. It was
about five females on the floor juking and no guys hit floor. I took it upon
myself to get the fellows up and dancing so I hit the floor and stepped right in
the middle of these women and ya'll they began to scratch my back. I began
calling for the guys to hit the floor and just like that, Walter Waiters had won
the hearts of the people of Gulfport. His rendition of Rufus Thomas "Walking The
Dog" got a roaring ovation from the now packed "Turning Point Lounge". I've
described Walter's music as the blues smoothed out on the southern soul tip and
his next two songs personified that."Creepin" and "Careful Woman" got me up off
my feet again to join a now crowded dance floor. He began belting out Ray
Charles "The Night Time, Is The Right Time" and I was trying to convince one of
the ladies in attendance to join him on this selection. She almost bit but I
guess the thought of fame was too much for her. I love the way Walter makes the
crowd a part of his show. When it came time for Margie Hendricks part the entire
crowd helped him on the delivery and this was great for all in attendance. He
kept the southern soul sound going with a rendition of Otis Redding's "Sitting
On The Dock Of The Bay" and by now it was sing along with Walter Waiters and the
packed house was feeling this TEXAS BLUESMAN.He performed a couple of songs,"
Just Me" and "Twerk It" from his new cd and the people of Gulfport gave them a
stamp of approval.
He switched gears for his next few selections. Walter is a Blues man first and
he always has acknowledge this fact. I watched Theodis Ealey perform a couple of
months ago and I was impressed by his ability to be soulful but maintain his
true music identity which is the blues. Walter is cut from the same cloth. He
kicked off his blues set with our beloved Little Milton's "The Blues Is Alright"
and the good people in Gulfport agreed. He took me home with some deep down home
traditional blues. He played several hand-clapping and foot-stomping blues
songs. His masterful skills on "LUCY"(his keyboard) were taken to a different
level. In the middle of one of his selections my lil brother began to get a
little explicit. Every show that I attend now the male artist display tongues
that would put an anaconda to shame and lil Walter was no different. I guess its
a good thing because all the females came front and center with cameras in hand
and began snapping, even Bell Ann joined in on the photo shoot. Marvin
Sease, whats really going on? Not to be ignored was the sounds coming from this
keyboard. The sounds of B.B. King, Buddy Guy and the late great Albert King
filled the room. I guess the best part of the show occurred while Walter was
performing Z.Z. Hill's "Somebody Else Is Stepping In".I forgot to get her name
but their was an 82 year old lady in attendance and she was helped to the dance
floor. The entire club zoomed in on her and bless her little heart she began to
cut a rug and the place erupted. She was joined by her son who also had been a
mainstay on the dance floor once the guys began getting their groove on. Walter
closed his performance with a tribute to his mentor and friend, the late Buddy
Ace." It Don't Hurt No More" is one of my personal favorites and Walter closed
the show with a bang.Everbody was on their feet and clapping in approval as
Walter strolled from center stage and entered the crowd. The good people in
Gulfport embraced this TEXAS BLUES MAN with an extended ovation. They loved
Walter so much that it was announced that he would do another show the next
night. The place again erupted in approval. I was so moved by the overflow of
love being displayed for Walter who came to the Gulf Coast region and helped the
good people in this area for one night forget all about the destruction of
Hurricane Katrina. I've heard what goes on in the club, should stay in the club.
I have to disagree this time around. Walter's performance tonight should be told
and I just had to tell it. I heard about an all-star lineup going on in
Huntsville, Alabama and I know the fans there had a great time but I bet if you
ask anyone who was at "The Turning Point Lounge", they wouldn't trade Walter's
performance on this night for anything in the world and unlike Huntsville,
Gulfport has Walter for one more night. I made a commitment to my friend and I'm
glad that I joined the people in Gulfport on this night.
After the show, Herman was the DJ for the after party and his sounds kept
everyone partying. We took a few photos and talked with a lot of the people in
attendance. I told the people that Big K9 would be barking in Gulfport again.
Hazel and Bell Ann it was good to party with you all again. Herman thanks for
the invitation and with you running the "Turning Point Lounge" the good people
in Gulfport will always have a place to escape.Walter, thank you for allowing me
to be an integral part of your show. People in attendance thought that I was
your hype man(lol!).
Good people I had a great time in Gulfport and like always I just wanted to
share it with you, the true fans of this BLUES AND SOUTHERN SOUL THANG.TAKE CARE
AND MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU.

Crazy, Sexy, Smooth - The man The
Album :*****

Walter Waiters has it ALL. He has given us yet another complete album. From
beginning to end it's all W.W.- at the first chord you start tapping your foot,
then your head moves side to side, shoulders start shifting and before you know
it, you are in your groove or on your feet. Walter has really out done himself
with this album, if you love good, old style, smooth, soul searching blues, this
is the album to buy. I promise you will not regret it.
Walter Waiters "Just Me" (self) LISTEN ( Bluescritc.com
*** 1/2
Yes he's related to Mel Waiters (cousin) but Walter has own thang going completely. This Texan leans heavier into the Blues. He can play some mean guitar. Nevertheless, fans of "Southern Soul" will also find plenty to like here. "Stays In The Club" is one of those percolating synth jams that people love. Forget Vegas he says "What happens in the club stays in the club". This one's got hit single potential, easily fitting in among the same formats as his famous 'cuz. Meanwhile, "Don't Scratch My Back" is straight out of the Tyrone Davis Dakar school. Waiter's delivery is laid back and mellow like his singing voice. "Shaking My Tree" is a fine example of his approach, an indolent groove with stinging guitar licks and plaintive-yet soulful vocals. He's only in his 20s but he already knows the Blues is as much about pace as it is about power. "I Can Feel" is an aggressive Down home Blues number with some wiry guitar solos and smart lyrics: "I wanna scream like B.B./(snort) like Bobby/the Blues is real to me/Ain't ever been no hobby!". Here he also namechecks the late Buddy Ace whom Waiters credits as inspiring him to play the Blues. On this generous 17-track (15 song) disc there's plenty of variety from the stripped down Blues instrumental "Who's Jukin' You" to the danceable 'Twerk It", featuring a heavy backbeat and guitar noodlin' reminiscent of B.B. King, to the acoustic guitar/piano jams "Kaylah's Boogie" and the Delta-fied yet jazzy title cut, which also features some Blues harmonica. All played by Waiters himself. Very enjoyable independent Blues from an under appreciated Texan who wears a cool-ass hat!
